1995 Kawasaki ZX-10 1000cc Superbike

Kawasaki_ZX-10 (1995) Sofia, Bulgaria

It was mine for few months in the summer back in 2006...I had my 1st motorcycle at that time (Aprilia Pegasso 125cc) and the ZX came very cheap for me and i bought it (I was scared of that monster).I thought I'll try to ride it and sell it immediately..The next day I was with the bikes in my garage gathering strength (mentally) to try to ride that BIG old bike. After almost 10hours around the bike, making a few quick rides with the good old 125cc I hopped on the ZX..I'll remember this day until I die..When I started the ZX-10 I started shaking like I had Parkinson's (and I was not happy about that),I stepped away of the bike to let it warm on idle and calm myself because I'm not riding like that. The first roll went smooth. This thing was so powerful only a idiot can stall it.Man this is a big bike.Yes,I'm 60kg 173cm tall, but the bike is Sooo BIG..it looked like I'm on a horse with that big fuel tank.Engine vibrations and the sound of this 4cyl. 1000cc 136hp were like nothing I have ever felt before. After 20min riding in town I felt so comfortable and that was THE TIME..Let's see how it goes..After maybe 10 fearful and easy pulls I found a good wide and long street without potholes to let THE BEAST GO...Standstill,1st gear,6000rpm and START...Spinning the tire wildly from 0 to 100kph,2nd+Full throttle..Fishtailing in left and right (I was trying to keep it straight),3rd Gear,I saw the Speedo around 160kph accelerating even faster now..After few seconds (it felt immediately after I saw the Speedo) the rev. limiter was on and I let off the gas..As I was slowing I felt like I have to stop and get off that thing ASAP and I did...That was my my Baptism of SUPERBIKE POWER..it's scary, but I never felt so alive before.I was full of energy and emotions after that several seconds long experience..I am still wondering if I am that stupid or if I am that much brave to pull something like this with a machine I never touched before..I had 1 scooter 50cc and the Pegasso 125 Enduro, and I have never dreamed of me having a 1000cc sport bike, and riding it like that..I don't know..After a finished my cigearette I hopped on the "Devil" (I gave it that name the next morning)..Every time I rode that bike it felt like the Devil himself is talking to me..My first day went so good I rode for about 5-6 hours with few quick stops..It was just the 1st day and I became Master of power sliding and 0-200++kph I was like intoxicated with some new stuff and it was GOOD...The rear tire was old,but after that day it was almost like slick tire..that was the only thing that can make me ride like normal people..I was checking the bike like 100times..Temp.,fluids and everything..(was 26 at that time with 12years in car and trucks repair business with my father)..The bike sounded in perfect condition even after so much high revvings..I'm 39 now and I still ride like that..revving to the max thru all the gears (especially when I go for a "training" session like that)...1988 Kawasaki ZX-10 ❤️💪...Aaand yes,I dropped it on the left side after 5-7days,but I never crashed it..After all my friends saw me with that bike some of them bought bikes similar to the ZX...1 bought GPX 750R 110hp and the other Yamaha R6...The 1st rode it like a month overheating it every time until the engine seased and the 2nd guy rode like he is in MotoGP always soon crashing from 160kph with a passenger on the back..Passenger killed on spot+1 old lady (crossing the street) and the rider is in wheelchair to this day (2024),..That Crash happened to be one of the BIG life lessons I learned, because the guy was my friend, but every time he saw me with the ZX he was asking me to ride it,but I never gave it to him and he started to hate me..just after 2-3months he bought this beautiful R6 in awesome good condition, but we never rode togheter..I sold the Devil and I never had a true motorcycle ever after...I think to change that soon...I hope you like my story..Stay sharp, smart and be kind to the other people on the road..Keep smiling and live the life just like you like it...Cheers

Good story. I had a few friends that had ZX-10s. One of them still does. Luckily none of them ever crashed. Too bad about your friend, his passenger and the old lady. Safe travels to you.
